Newfoundland Weather

The climate and weather of Newfoundland and Labrador is constantly changing and varies from the moderate temperatures enjoyed by the island to the extremes found in Labrador. The northern Labrador location translates into long, dark, very cold winters, much like other northern climes and the average temperatures in St. John's during January run 18 to 30 F/-8 to -1 C, with snow that sometimes turns to rain. Even so, only the most dedicated anglers will want to go in the winter, especially by ferry. Summer is the best time to visit, with much more forgiving weather. In summer, the coasts will be significantly cooler and foggier than inland. Bring warmer clothing when out on the water and for the evenings. Also, it's always a good idea to bring rain gear any time of year.
